Bettcha Can’t Guess what’s in the Burgers

Hello faithful readers, last week we had “I am mysterious burgers,” along with “I am comforting roasted roots.”  I think both were a big hit. I want to remind everybody how important it is to make the two dollar donation. Last week we served 150 people, but only took in $138. That means we can only spend about .79 cents per person on the meal.  We do our best, but just imagine what we could serve if we had a full two bits from everybody. Ok enough tough guy routine. Here are the recipes:

Oatmeal Burgers

2 Cups crushed walnuts

2 Cups oatmeal

1 large onion chopped fine

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sage

¼ teaspoon pepper

2 Cups stock

Heat the stock to boiling then mix all the ingredients together.  Let it sit for about fifteen. It should make a sticky batter that you can form into a patty—getting the texture might take more or less stock to get it right. Heat a frying pan with some oil and form patties and fry them till crispy brown.

Roosted Root Vegetables

¼ Cup Olive oil

1 Cup sweet potatoes

1 Cup potatoes

1 Cup butternut squash

5 cloves garlic whole

2 heaping tablespoons Rosemary

1 Teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon pepper

Dice all the vegetables into bite sized pieces and toss with the other ingredients.

Preheat the oven to 400, then roast the vegetables until soft about forty five minutes turning them halfway through.
